Distant Suns 5 App Reviews

Amazing technology and very detailed but a bit daunting at first

I bought this app so that my 9-year-old daughter and I could look out her bedroom window at night and name the stars we see until she falls asleep. She really loves being able to highlight stars and click to see a telescope pic of the star/cluster. It sometimes is a bit slow to react to movements of the iphone, but in general it has been great to see the stars mapped out in front of us. We also find it a bit challenging to get more information about each constellation as we see it. I think this app is geared more for adults. All in all, it is a good app. I`m just not sure it`s worth 1,200yen.

複雑過ぎるかも泣

ARで使う時は Pref Extras Twilightにレ点入れるといいよ とにかく難しい泣

Crash in opening window

It isnt work new version .

Nice

But Star Walk is cleaner (screen less cluttered) and easier to use on iPhone. Distant Suns is good on my Kindle Fire.

Dissapointed

Dissapointed by the app itself. Clunky UI, ugly looking sky. What adds even more bitterness is that the support only gets back to you when you praise them, not when you report an actual issue. And there is a major computational bug with the position of the Sun in 3D mode.

An Everlasting Pleasure.

Sweet reveries for the child within any adult.

Good ap

Very good app about stars and universe

Great Product! A MUST for Astronomy Enthusiasts!

Love the product, love the updates, love the content & ease of use! Well worth the money. Thank you!

Wonderful night photo aid.

This app is a great aid to plan rural night photo shoots. The ability to select future times, dates and set locations is extremely useful. Having used Distant Suns on iPod Touches for several years, Im even more impressed by the added functions gained on my new iPhone. One caveat: dont enable the iPhones compass True North option if youre planning to use the Distant Suns compass function for point to identify objects in the night sky. The result will be a sky map off by your local magnetic declination.

All around useful Astro app

Ive been an amateur astronomer & astronomy writer for over 30 years, and have seen a lot of software for stargazers. Since 1.0 for Windows, Distant Suns has been a great introduction to the sky, and a useful resource for users at any level. Since being ported to the iPhone, it has retained all the virtues of the original, and steadily added functionality while continuously improving the user interface. The developer is clearly committed to supporting users, and at a price that makes this one of the best bargains going. It doesnt quite measure up to Luminos in functionality I personally find valuable, hence the 4 stars, but it does some things Luminos doesnt. I use both regularly.

Great App

I have been nothing but pleased with this app.

My favorite app!

This app makes me appreciate life and and the universe. Most educational app I use!! Highly recommend

Superb Astronomy App

Loaded with great features, very useful star gazing application.

Cool app but add more stuff

This is a fun app for kids star gazers like myself. Please add more pics into the descriptions and more functions to click on would be great. There is a lot more that can be done to make this app cooler.

Nothing else comes close.

Ive been enjoying distant suns since it was first released on the iPhone. It is still one of the apps that amazes people when Im out camping or on the beach at night. A bunch of other apps came out afterwards with flashy visuals but nowhere near the depth of information. Great stuff!

Great Program

My first experience with Distant Suns was on my Amiga computer back in college. This version is on par with the original—an excellent program!

Strangely over featured

Unless youre a pro astronomer, its so over featured that its worthless. Impossible to get basic features to work, like hold it up and have it move with the sky. A basic function, but doesnt work, or is turned off, or something, I cant dig through these settings to figure out how to get it to go. Toolbar button response area is smaller than the images, so you hit the button, and then again, and still nothing. Lousy, frustrating user experience. Stick with the many simple apps out there, if youll only use this a few times a year. If youre a scientist, go for it, and expect to spend a lot of time learning the tool.

Amateur Astronomer

This is fantastic! I absolutely love the app and it is so accurate which I love.

Freaking amazing!

That pretty much sums it up. Love this app.
